This image represents the manga character Princess Sarah. I like this character a lot because it reminds me of a friend. She looks a lot like her, and also because I used to watch this manga when I was younger.

  1. From a bunch of images we can create a whole story. I especially really like the exrcise that they made us do. It was really funny and made us use our creative side. 
  2. another thing that I learned from them is the fact that an image can be used in different context and have many meanings

Assignment 11: My Morocco



Snail or what we call in Arabic "Babouch" is part of the Moroccan cuisine and it is a snack liked by many moroccans in all the regions of the country. This picture has been taken in Casablanca next to the Morocco Mall in Ain Diab where Babouch merchants install there small shop for their customer.




As you may know there is  a huge dispute around the Moroccan Sahara, but since I was a child I always saw it as symbol of morocco. This picture has been taken during the trip to the south for spring break 2014.



Another thing that for me represents my Morocco is Moroccan Weddings. For me they are unique in the way they are organised, the different ceremonies, the dresses, the food, and the music. 


Assignment 10: Branded!


Coca Cola Company created a new Ad Compaign in which instead putting the name the brand you print something you want on the bottle. The image above shows an example of this campaign. Instead of Coca Cola is written "Bidawa" which means people from Casablanca.



In this image we can see different brands like apple, Jack Daniels, Marc Jacobs, Ray Ban, and Haqgen-dazs. This products are used in a daily basis like the computer, the bag or sun glasses. This is a good example of how we have been branded by companies.



This is an image of products that I used for my make up routine and the perfume that I wear every day. This is an other example of being branded as I said before.


Assignment 9: My Logo





I tried to create a logo by using my initials J and S. I used the Edwardian Script ITC typeface and added reflexion and shadow. Also I used a degrade red as a color because it represents excitement.




Assignment 8: Mission Statement


As a communication minor, I would like to pursue a master in Public Relations studies. While doing research on master, I found one that I really liked at PAIGE University in Westchester, New York. After graduating from Al Akhawayn, I will apply for this master and if I am accepted I probably go there. 

Assignment 7: My Goals


Goal 1: My first goal would be to finish Al Akhawayn. Actually, I still have two semester and I'll be finally a graduate students.

Goal 2: This summer, I gave my self the goal of loosing the weight that I gained this last two semester by following a diet and going to the gym.

Goal 3: Travelling to somewhere I've never been after finishing my internship this summer.

Assignment 6: Signifiers


Signifier: Traditional Maroccan Living Room
Signified: Untouchable, never used, reserved 
                                               for guests and big events
                                              Referent: Children (do not try to play in it)

Referent: me (scared, being hit)

Signified: Happy, Laughing, LoL
            Referent: People who look at this emotion 
       want to smile instantly and feel happy.

Assignment 5


This picture is part of the Geltat principles. 
similarity is the main idea of this image, more 
specifically similarity in shapes and colour.


This picture of the logo of the brand Tommy Hilfiger
 is designed based on the principle of uniform connectedness.
 We can see that the "H" is perfectly connected with the
 "T", and creates a unique symbol. 


This ornament is not complete, but still the colour used to paint it (blue and yellow) and the shapes help us see that it is a replica of a traditional house in Chefchaoun.

Assignment 4


The "r" of this logo remind us of royalty and the 
shapes around it also resembles the emblem of royalty. 
We can seen also a crown at the top of the logo.



The logo of Starbucks is represented by a mermaid.
We can see that with the lines that are shaped like
successive hills form the hair of this mermaid.
Also the small diagonal line in both sides
represent the tale of the mermaid.


This is the logo of Armani Jeans.
 We can see at the top of the logo
 an eagle that is formed by superposed
 horizontal lines. This eagle is the symbol
of the brand and represents the supreme
quality of their products.

Assignment 3


This logos represent perfectly the product. The designer 
        used the colour blue which is the synonym of water in every 
     person's mind. Also he used the colour white which means
                     purity and the green which is a synonym of nature and and freshness. 


Valencia logo is mainly green but we can see a small touch
 of yellow and orange in the "i". The green represents nature
        (fruits are found in nature), health (fruits are good for our health),
          and freshness. This mix of yellow and orange create the sentiment 
of appetite and it is used to get the attention a the customer.



Apple logo has the shape of an apple to remind 
       the customer of the name of the brand. The designer
 of this logo uses only one colour a dark grey that
     is synonym of corporate, practicality, and neutrality.




Assignment 2


When looking at this picture, one can believe that 
the person is holding a light ball with two finger. 
When, actually, what the person is doing is really 
      easy; you just  need the right distance measurements.


In this picture, our brain make us believe that the flame 
is coming out of the mouth of this person. When, 
actually the flame is next to this person face.


When can think that this person has super power 
when it is not the case. You just need a hairdryer
 underneath the handkerchief  and you hand above 
it, to create the illusion that you are making it fly.

Assignment 1

I like reading, watching movies, traveling, 
and going out with my friends.

Mainly I took this class because it is part of my course curriculum. 
Still I believe that I will learn a lot this term, especially in 
the area of decoding the message behind a picture. 
Also, I expect to learn more about visual aspects of 
the media as a whole unity.
